Optics Puzzler: The Big Mirror
The VERITAS telescopes are giant parabolic reflectors 12 meters in diameter. They are located at Whipple Observatory south of Tucson.
I recently visited VERITAS. I sat on the side of a hill and took a picture of my reflection in the VERTITAS reflector.
Approximately where am I located in relation to the focal point of the reflector?

Solution
The image is upright and magnified. The way to create an upright and magnified image using a concave mirror is if the image is less than one focal length from the mirror.
