July's Puzzler: Take Me Out to the Ballgame

I went over to my friend's house to watch a baseball game. I asked him what the score is.

"It's scoreless, bottom of the fifth, two outs, and nobody on base"

The batter hit a grounder to first base. Instead of touching first base for the out, the first baseman threw the ball across to third base. The third baseman stepped on third, the umpire signaled the batter was out, and the teams switched sides.
